Draft — not yet cleared for use. This drill is designed as deliberate practice and is still in review; treat it as practice, not a graded or certified activity.

Supported the Language, or Removed the Challenge?

Designed as deliberate practice in the call a para supporting an English language learner makes a dozen times a day: after your move, is the student still doing the same thinking — just with the words within reach? Quick reps — read the moment, make the call, see the why.

The categories

  • Supported the languageThe words were put within reach — a visual, a frame, a home-language route in — and the student still had to do the same thinking the rest of the class was doing.
  • Removed the challengeThe thinking itself got smaller, or the language dropped below what the student could still grow on — so what came back shows less than the student can actually do.
