Who we are, and what this page covers

Peerlore is a personal professional-learning tool for paraprofessionals (paraeducators). This page describes what information the site collects, how we use it, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to delete it. It covers everything on peerlore.com.

The short version: everything you give us is optional, we never collect student records, we don't sell data or run ads, and you can ask us to delete your information at any time.

What we collect — and all of it is optional

You can use every assessment and tool on Peerlore without giving us any identifying information. If you choose to, we collect:

• Identity fields on the quiz forms: your name, email, school or district, years in role, grade level, and work context. Every field is optional and nothing blocks submission if you leave them blank. Email is what enables progress tracking across visits.
• Your assessment answers and the competency scores computed from them.
• Free text you write: reflections, application commitments, questions you ask on the Ask page, and feedback comments. Write about your own practice — never enter students' names or other identifying details (see the FERPA section below).
• Colleague recognitions: if you name a colleague who taught you a skill, we store their display name, an optional coarse region, and your reason. See “If someone named you on Peerlore” below.
• Usage signals that help us improve the tool: which quizzes are started, which library guides are viewed, which resources are clicked, and whether practice sessions are completed. Library page views are anonymous — they are not linked to your email or submissions.

What we deliberately do NOT collect: student records (our FERPA posture)

Peerlore is a personal learning tool for adults, not a student information system. We do not collect, request, or store student education records, and we ask you not to enter students' names or other personally identifiable information about students anywhere on the site.

As a safety net, free text you submit is run through automatic name-softening (name-shaped words are reduced to initials) and contact-information redaction before it can appear on any shared or public surface. This is defense-in-depth, not the primary control — the primary control is that you don't enter student information in the first place. On the employer-facing PD record, reflection excerpts that still contain initials-like patterns after softening are withheld entirely.

Because Peerlore stores no student education records, it is not acting as a “school official” under FERPA on your behalf. You alone are responsible for what you type and for complying with FERPA and your district's privacy policies.

How we use your information

We use what you share to:

• Show you your results, your progress over time, and your professional-development activity record.
• Let you mint private links you control: a progress link, an optional read-only mentor share link, and an optional employer-facing PD verification link. You choose what each link exposes, and you can turn share links off.
• Improve the tool in aggregate (which questions discriminate well, which guides get read, where the search fails to find a match).
• Recognize colleagues you name, if you choose to name them (see below).

Cookies and local storage

Peerlore sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. During the private beta, visiting with an access code sets one cookie that remembers the code so you aren't asked again. Your browser's local storage is used for small conveniences on your own device — like remembering that you already answered a feedback prompt, or holding a practice draft that never leaves your browser.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights for privacy-respecting, aggregate page and performance analytics (no advertising identifiers). Before an analytics or performance event leaves your browser, we scrub private link tokens out of the reported page path, so your private links do not end up in analytics data.

Email

If you give us your email, we use it for mail you ask for: your private progress link and, on request, a copy of your PD record. These are sent through Resend, our email delivery provider.

We have the ability to send at most one automated re-engagement note per person per campaign kind (for example, a single nudge if you started but went quiet), tracked in a suppression ledger so it can never repeat. This automated sending is off unless explicitly enabled. We never sell or share your email for marketing.

The optional AI de-identification assist

One flow uses an AI model: when you choose to make something public — a question you asked, or an answer you add to someone else's public question — we offer an automatic suggestion that rewrites your text in generalized, de-identified form. To produce that suggestion, the text you are about to publish is sent to Anthropic's API (the Claude model). This happens only when you open a make-it-public flow — never for private questions, and never for text you keep to yourself. Whatever the suggestion says, a deterministic de-identification pass (name-softening plus email/phone redaction) always runs on the server before anything is published, and you review the final text before it goes public.

Private links are the access control — treat them like passwords

Peerlore has no accounts or passwords. Access to your results, progress, and PD record is controlled by long, unguessable links. This design means anyone you give a link to (or anyone who finds one) can see what that link exposes: a results link exposes that result and, from there, your progress history; a verification link exposes the PD record sections you chose to include.

Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure records requested web addresses in server access logs, and those addresses include link tokens. These logs are not public, but this is a real property of the design and we would rather tell you than not: treat your private links the way you would treat a password, and share them only with people you intend.

If someone named you on Peerlore (colleague recognition)

Learners can name a colleague who taught them a skill or whose judgment they trust. If someone named you: we store only your display name as the nominator typed it, an optional coarse region (like a county), and the nominator's reason. We store no contact information about you, and we never contact you without a separate, explicit opt-in step. Your name is not published anywhere; nominators are told you won't be shown who named you.

You have the right to know about and remove this record. Email privacy@peerlore.com with the name you go by professionally and your region, and we will tell you whether a record matching that name exists and delete it (the name record and every recognition pointing at it) on request. No justification is required, and we will confirm when it is done.

How long we keep data

We keep what you share for as long as Peerlore operates, so that your progress history and PD record keep working — there is currently no automatic expiry. That trade-off is deliberate (your PD record is only useful if it persists), and it is balanced by the deletion right below, which you can exercise at any time.

Deleting your data

Peerlore has no accounts, so deletion works by request. Email privacy@peerlore.com — ideally from the email address you used on the site, or include one of your private links so we can locate your records. We will delete your submissions and everything linked to them (answers, scores, reflections, commitments, questions, feedback, and any share or verification links), and confirm when it is done. If you never gave us an email or link, tell us what you remember (approximate date, school) and we will make a good-faith effort to locate and delete the records.

Deleting your data disables any progress, mentor, or PD verification links you previously created.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data, run ads, or share your information with your school or district — what an employer or mentor sees is exactly and only what you choose to share via a link you create. The service providers that process data to run the site are: Neon (database hosting), Vercel (web hosting and aggregate analytics), Cloudflare (Turnstile bot-protection on some forms), Resend (email delivery), and Anthropic (only the optional de-identification assist described above). We would disclose data if legally compelled to, and we would tell you unless legally barred from doing so.

Changes and contact

If our practices change, this page changes first, with the date below updated. Questions, deletion requests, and removal requests all go to privacy@peerlore.com.
