Draft — attorney review pending

This page accurately describes how Peerlore works today, but the legal wording has not yet been reviewed by an attorney. It is published now so our data practices are stated in the open rather than not at all.

What Peerlore is for

Peerlore is a personal professional-learning tool for paraprofessionals: self-assessments, practice, and a library of best-practice guides. By using it you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site.

Not legal, medical, or emergency advice

Everything on Peerlore is general professional-development content. It is not legal advice, medical advice, or a substitute for your district's policies, a student's IEP or health plan, your supervising teacher's direction, or your state's law — all of which always take precedence. Mandated-reporting obligations are governed by your state's law; know your state's specific requirements.

In an emergency, call 911. If you or someone else is in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Never delay emergency action to consult this site.

Your responsibilities

When you use Peerlore, you agree to:

  • Never enter students' names or other personally identifiable information about students. Peerlore is a personal learning tool, not a student information system; you alone are responsible for what you type and for complying with FERPA and your district's privacy policies.
  • Name colleagues only in good faith when using the recognition features, and only with the understanding described in the consent language on that surface.
  • Treat your private links (progress, mentor share, PD verification) like passwords — anyone with a link can see what it exposes.
  • Not probe, scrape, overload, or attempt to gain access to data that isn't yours.

What the records mean — and don't

Scores are self-assessment snapshots, not certifications, evaluations, or credentials. The professional-development record estimates time conservatively from activities you completed; it is not measured screen time. The estimated hours on your PD record are not Washington State clock hours (or any state's continuing-education credit) and do not by themselves confer credit. Whether professional-development time is compensable or creditable is decided by your district, your collective-bargaining agreement, and your state — usually with pre-approval. Confirm with your employer before claiming.

No warranty; limitation of liability

Peerlore is provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We work hard to keep the content accurate and the site running, but we do not guarantee either. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Peerlore and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us to use the site (currently: nothing).

This section in particular is draft wording pending attorney review — see the banner above.

Privacy

How we collect, use, retain, and delete information is described on the Privacy & Data Practices page, which is part of these terms.

Changes, termination, and contact

We may update these terms as the product evolves; this page changes first, with the date above updated. We may suspend access that violates these terms (for example, scraping or attempts to access others' data). Questions go to privacy@peerlore.com.
